loads in Frame elements Empty loads in Frame elements

Post  DagoCR1 Mon Jan 17, 2011 3:47 am

Hi, reading the 2D manual and the theory for the program it seems that one can model a distributed load applied on a frame element but I cannot find a way to do it. I am modeling a slab-column joint experiment and need to add the self weight+dead loads to the model but do not want to put them as nodal values because my experiment is static. Is is possible and how can I do it? thanks

They can be input as fixed-end moments and shears. In the 3D program there is a distributed load option but this is not available in the 2D version (no one has ever asked hard enough for it)

Thank you Professor Carr. Anyway, it would be nice to have the option sometime, since the code is already written for the 3D version.

Most of the new features in the 3D version get into the 2D version if the addition is easy. Will think about it.
