SPRING ELEMENT IN RUAUMOKO2D
Hello everybody, I have problems with the spring element, I want to use it to model a beam, but I need examples or suggestions, Does anybody here worked with this element? thanks and greetings.

Hi JLopezM,
what kind of errors did you get with the spring element? If you are more specific maybe someone can give you some help, otherwise it is kind of difficult..
Cheers,
Domenico

What are you trying to mode? If you want to model a beam, do so. The spring can be used but the relationship is moment-rotation not moment-curvature as seen in a beam. You can also use a translational spring with say the stiffness of 3EI/L and then you are modelling the shear like behaviour and the yield force will have to be related to the equivalent moment. If there are still difficulties please email me, athol.carr@canterbury.ac.nz, with some details.
